Happy Birthday to my friends

Tonight I recalled a story from my childhood that I would like to share/remind you of. This is not meant to be sad so don't think it is and don't be sad for me. I love this story.

When I was turning ten (ish), I had planned this fun birthday party for me and all of my friends and I was really excited about it! The day before, I came down with pink eye and was sad that the party wasn't going to happen. First of all, pink eye is super contagious so I certainly couldn't pass it onto my friends. Secondly, why did I get it so much as a child??

I remember having a conversation with my mom about what we were going to do about this situation. She told me that since all of my friends had been looking forward to my party and we already had it all planned out, they were going to still have the party...I just couldn't attend.

When my family left the next day to celebrate my birthday with my friends, I was laying on this giant bear (or maybe it was a dog) watching Goosebumps and my mom brought me an oversized bag of mini snickers to help me get through the day. I gladly waved her goodbye and was excited about hanging out with my best friend tv, eating candy all day and having the house to myself.

Happy Birthday to me.
